Introduction

• A service provided at all government general hospitals in Malaysia which caters to all cases pertaining to abuse , violence and exploitation of adults and children

Important Points

Different approach

• Triage counter: victim should be brought to a room with privacy without further history taking at the triaging counter
• Soft spoken & rapport building are the keys during history taking
• Emergency Physician must be involved if patient is in ED

Management in general

• External physical examination
• Related to sexual abuse / rape cases: UPT test, infective screening
• Police report is required
• SCAN Team referral is required

Notes

• If patient/victim refused for examination, respect his/her decision
