Common specimen containers

Common Lab Tests

• Common work-ups [open]

• Blood Gas – ABG, VBG
• Full blood count (FBC)
• Renal profile (RP)
• Ca, Mg, PO4
• Cardiac enzymes : Troponin T
• Serum lactate
• D-dimer
• Thyroid function test (TFT)
• Urine protein creatinine ration (UPCR)

Notes

1. If in the plan written as electrolytes, it means you need to include Ca, Mg, PO4 in the lab form / order in the system
2. LFT does not include AST. Thus, if AST is needed, you need to include AST in the lab form / order in the system
3. LFT includes total serum bilirubin, but not direct & indirect bilirubin.
   If direct & indirect bilirubin are needed, you need to include direct & indirect bilirubin in the lab form / order in the system
4. ABG / VBG done in lab does not include lactate . Thus, if lactate is required, send additional blood using Fluoride oxalate tube in ice. Include lactate in the lab form / order in the system
