Common Lab Tests
• Common work-ups [open]
- Blood Gas – ABG, VBG
- Full blood count (FBC)
- Renal profile (RP)
- Ca, Mg, PO4

Cardiac enzymes
: Troponin T×Cardiac enzymes×Troponin T
Troponin T
High-sensitivity Troponin T assay
• High-sensitivity = able to measure much more precisely at much lower concentration
• Raises within 1 hour of cardiac injury
• High negative predictive value
• 99th percentile: 14 ng/L (different lab might have different cut-off point)
• Unit: ng/LConventional Troponin T assay
• Unit: ng/mLFurther reading:

lactate
×Lactate
- D-dimer
- Thyroid function test (TFT)
- Urine protein creatinine ration (UPCR)
Notes
- If in the plan written as electrolytes, it means you need to include Ca, Mg, PO4 in the lab form / order in the system
- LFT does not include AST. Thus, if AST is needed, you need to include AST in the lab form / order in the system
- LFT includes total serum bilirubin, but not direct & indirect bilirubin.
If direct & indirect bilirubin are needed, you need to include direct & indirect bilirubin in the lab form / order in the system - ABG / VBG done in lab does not include
lactate
. Thus, if lactate×Lactateis required, send additional blood using Fluoride oxalate tube in ice. Include lactate×Lactatein the lab form / order in the system×Lactate
