Introduction / Definition
• Cerebral contusion = traumatic brain parenchymal injury caused by rapid tissue displacement, disruption of vascular channels, and subsequent haemorrhage, tissue injury and oedema • e.g. altered / loss of consciousness, temporal respiratory arrest, loss of reflexes =====
• Cerebral concussion = reversible
transient neurologic dysfunction
• Followed by complete neurologic recovery
Note:
If GCS is persistently not full, it cannot be termed as cerebral concussion, instead, traumatic brain injury (TBI), i.e. cerebral contusion needs to be ruled out (refer Neurosurgery team)

• Subarachnoid haemorrhage is
rarely
SAH is more commonly due to ruptured aneurysm
